VERN E. “JUNIOR” BOOKER, 76
VERN E. “JUNIOR” BOOKER, 76, of Fort Wayne passed away on Friday, November 24, 2017. He was born on July 9, 1941 in Bluffton, Indiana, a son the of the late Vernon and Margery (Miller) Booker whom survives.
Vern served in the U.S. Army. He worked a Zollners for 39 years and at Citywide Delivery for 10 years. He was a volunteer fireman in Wayne Township for 12 years before serving as assistant chief and later, fire chief. He was a member at American Legion Post #241 and Waynedale Lions Club, and also served on the board at Freedom Financial Bank which later became Police Fire Federal Credit Union. He enjoyed spending time working on race cars and spending time with family.
Surviving family include his wife, Marilyn K. Booker; daughters, Lisa (Robert) Kell, Kimberly (David) Ruby, Michelle (Scott) Davis; mother, Margery; 10 grandchildren, and three great grandchildren; brother, Gary Booker; and a sister, Wanda Booker.
Besides his father, he was preceded in passing by his brother, Ronald Booker.
Funeral service were 11:00 am on Thursday, November 30, 2017 at Elzey-Patterson-Rodak Home for Funerals, 6810 Old Trail Rd., Fort Wayne with visitation one-hour prior. Visitation also from 2-4 and 6-8 pm on Wednesday, November 29, 2017 at the funeral home with a Lion’s Club service at 7:30pm.
