RICHARD V. SMITH, 91
RICHARD V. SMITH, 91, of Fort Wayne, passed away Friday, November 17, 2017 at Covington Manor. He was born December 5, 1925 in Hartford City, Indiana to the late Orland and Eleanor (Neal) Smith. He retired in 1987, working as a machinist. He had worked for a number of companies including General Electric for 25 years and Bowmar Instruments for 8 years. He was a member of Colony Heights Church of God and was an avid golfer and bowler. His ability and willingness to fix most anything was one of his many attributes that made him loved by all.
Surviving are his wife of 67 years, Wanda (Smead) Smith of Fort Wayne; children, David A. (Lorraine) Smith and Steven L. (Kathleen) Smith, both of Fort Wayne, and Sharon E. (Greg) Hoffman of Overland Park, Kansas; grandchildren, Angela Upton, Joshua Smith, Stephanie Ellis, Elizabeth Smith, Ashley Bell, Stuart Smith, Kyle Smith, and Katelyn Zuber; and nine great grandchildren.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his brother, Robert Smith; and sister, Marilyn Lloyd.
Funeral service will be Saturday, November 25, 2017 at 11 AM at Greenlawn Funeral Home, 6750 Covington Road, Fort Wayne, IN 46804 with visitation one-hour prior. Visitation will also be on Friday, November 24, 2017 from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 PM at the funeral home. Burial will be in Greenlawn Memorial Park.
