PUFFERBELLY 5K RUN/ WALK HELPS DEVELOP NEW TRAILS

Runners, walkers, and baby strollers, grown-ups, grandparents and kids are all welcome at Fort Wayne Trails’ 7th annual Pufferbelly 5K Run/Walk on August 13th. The event takes place at Parkview YMCA, located at 10001 Dawson’s Creek Blvd, near Salomon Farm Park and includes a 5k race and 1-mile kids’ fun run, along with games, live music, pony rides, and more.

This event is designed to highlight the Pufferbelly Trail, Allen County’s portion of what will be a 4-county, 80-mile trail, connecting Pokagon State Park and Ouabache State Park. It’s a conversion of a historic railroad line and the name is a nod to the steam engines that once roared through the area.

Proceeds from this event will benefit Fort Wayne Trails.
The Kids’ Fun Run will begin at 8:00 am and the 5k will start at 8:30 am. On-site registration and packet pick-up will take place at the YMCA on Friday, August 12th from 5 to 7 PM or on race day from 7 to 8 AM. Timing chips will be used to ensure accurate times are kept for all runners and prizes will be given to winners in various categories.

This is a great event with lots of activities including:
* Free access to the YMCA’s water facilities for all participants on the day of the event
* Live music
* Kids activities, including face painting and balloon animals, horse rides, and more!
* Great door prizes, including 2 bicycles, donated by Summit City Bicycles and Fitness!

The Pufferbelly 5k Run/Walk and 1 Mile Kids’ Fun Run is sponsored by Fort Wayne Pediatrics, Fort Wayne Tin Caps, Parkview Physicians Group-Cardiology, YMCA, and LaBov.
Registration can be completed online at www.getmeregistered.com, or with a printed registration form available at the Parkview YMCA and Fort Wayne Trails Office.

A team challenge is also available this year. A minimum of 5 participants per team is required and includes a VIP packet pick-up line, photo opportunity, a special Fort Wayne Trails team goodie, and prizes for the team with the most participants.
