LUANA (BREWER) STANLEY, 73
LUANA (BREWER) STANLEY, 73, died peacefully Friday, May 13, 2016, at Hospice Home in Fort Wayne. A native of Bluffton, she graduated from Indiana University with a bachelor’s degree in English and Masters of library science degree. She worked first as a children’s librarian and later as cataloging manager for the Indianapolis Public Library.
She returned to the Fort Wayne area in 1980 as Technical services manager for the Allen County Public Library, retiring in 2005 as the manager of IT services.
She was active and an instrumental part of Troop #44 for many years with her son, Rick in Boy Scouts. She enjoyed ballroom dancing, solving crossword puzzles, reading and watching professional basketball. She was a life-long baseball fan.
She is survived by her son, Richard A. (Mercedes) Stanley; three grandchildren, Samantha, Jessica and Jaclyn; and one great-grandchild, Jasmine, all of Moreno Valley, California; siblings, Lorene Oswalt of Maryville, Tennessee, Ines (Robert) Gillespie of Wabash and M. Max Brewer of Denton, Texas; sisters-in-law, Joan Brewer of Fort Wayne and Rosie Brewer of Munice; and brother-in-law, R. Charles Holmes of Fort Wayne.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Forace M. and Jennie E. Brewer; and siblings, Ellan Jean Holmes, Dorothy Brewer, Venita Messinger, Virginia Brewer, Hertha Kruckeberg, Forace H. Brewer, W. Ray Brewer, Wanda Brewer, Ruth Brewer and Jennie Kralicek.
