FORMER COLTS PUNTER HUNTER SMITH HOSTS FREE CONCERT AT THE CHAPEL

The Hunter Smith Band will host a live concert at 6:00 p.m. at The Chapel Saturday, January 31. It is a family event, free and open to the community.

The Hunter Smith Band performed last summer for an outdoor concert at the Jorgensen YMCA and has since been touring around the country. The Chapel’s music director, Cathy Hawks, worked with The Hunter Smith Band at his YMCA performance last July and invited him back to Fort Wayne for Super Bowl weekend.

“This is a man who loves God, his country, and music,” says Hawks. “I knew the Fort Wayne community would want to see him perform again, and there’s no better weekend than Super Bowl weekend to host a Super Bowl Champion.”

Smith will also join The Chapel’s worship team for their Super Bowl Sunday services, February 1 at 9:15 and 10:30 a.m. The Chapel is located at 2505 West Hamilton Road in southwest Fort Wayne.

Smith is best known for his 10 years as Punter for the Indianapolis Colts. He celebrated a Super Bowl victory against the Chicago Bears in February 2007 and has since gone on to play for the Washington Redskins. After 12 years in the NFL, Smith purposefully began his music career. His love for music has exploded into a five-man band that has performed across the country. Their first album, Green, features pop country/rock music written by Smith who has been writing music his whole life. When Smith is not touring with his band, he resides with his family in Indianapolis.
