HONORING HEROES IN WAYNEDALE WITH REMEMBRANCE WREATHS

National nonprofit Wreaths Across America is working hard to ensure no veteran from Fort Wayne is forgotten this holiday season. On December 13, live, balsam remembrance wreaths will be placed at the headstones of fallen veterans at nearly 1,000 locations across the country and overseas. Locally, a remembrance ceremony will be held at Prairie Grove Cemetery, on this day to ensure that the veterans buried there, who served to protect the freedoms of our country are not, and never will be, forgotten.

Siler Funeral Service and American Legion Post 241 in Waynedale have a long standing commitment to honoring our fallen heroes and assisting our veterans in need in our community. Siler Funeral Service and the American Legion Post 241 are teaming together to perform a remembrance ceremony to pay tribute to our veterans who have gone before us, ensuring that NONE of our veterans are forgotten!

To raise money for the needed wreaths sponsorships, American Legion Post 241 and Siler Funeral Service will be holding fundraisers over the next month. To sponsor an Individual wreath for a local veteran please contact Steve at Siler Funeral Service (260.447.5948). The wreath can either be used in our ceremony, or you may place the wreath on the grave of your veteran in the cemetery you selected.

American Legion Post 241 and Siler Funeral Service invites anyone wishing, to participate in a ceremony on Saturday, December 13, 2014 at 12 noon in Prairie Grove Cemetery 6312 Old Trail Road, Waynedale.

“Each and every wreath is a gift from an appreciative person or family who knows what it means to serve and sacrifice for the freedoms we all enjoy,” said Karen Worcester, executive director of Wreaths Across America. “We are so humbled that American Legion Post 241 and Siler Funeral Service are participating in our mission to Remember, Honor and Teach.”

Those unable to participate in the wreath-laving ceremony are invited to visit the WAA website and social media channels to learn more. Follow Wreaths Across America on Facebook at Facebook.com/WAAHQ and on Twitter at twitter.com/WreathsAcross.
