NEW ADAPTIVE GOLF CARTS

Turnstone and the Fort Wayne Parks & Recreation Department are pleased to be able to offer a new special adaptive golf cart at McMillen Park Golf Course.

The golf express cart has been modified in the following ways:
-360 degree swivel seat with infinite stops
-Adjustable height and forward position seat for both children and adults to use
-One hand control steering
-Adjustable restraint system to provide stability for the golfer while swinging and moving
-Wraparound bar for easy access and positioning

The golf cart is Fort Wayne’s first cart of its kind. Turnstone and the Fort Wayne Parks & Recreation Department were able to make the purchase with the help of a grant from the National Alliance for Accessible Golf.

“This is a great asset for the golfers with mobility impairments in the area who are unable to use a regular golf cart and would like to have more access to the course,” said Tina Acosta, Director of Sports & Recreation for Turnstone.

“We’re thrilled to be able to offer this cart,” said Al Moll, Director of Parks & Recreation. “It will provide many more opportunities for kids with mobility impairments who enroll in our youth Lifetime Sports Academy summer program and our adults to enjoy the golfing experience.”
The cart made its debut at the disAbilities Expo on May 10th, where many people were able to try it out and see what it could do.
