Little River Wetlands Project, a local nature organization protecting almost 1,200 acres of natural and restored wetlands in Allen and Huntington Counties, offers interesting and informative nature events this May through July. All are free and open to the community.

Little River Ramblers
Meet at the Boy Scout Office parking lot, 8315 W. Jefferson Blvd., Fort Wayne to hike and explore the preserve’s interesting plants and wildlife.

Invasive Plant Species Training
This is a two-part class for people intending to volunteer at LRWP preserves. For Part 1, meet at the LRWP office, 7209 Engle Road, Suite 200, Fort Wayne to learn about invasive plant species in LRWP preserves and other areas of the Little River watershed including major problem plants, what makes them a threat, and how LRWP manages them. Part 2 on Saturday, May 10, 9 a.m. to noon, involves field study at Eagle Marsh. Sponsored by Little River Wetlands Project. Free. Light breakfast and nature presentation for nature lovers 50+ at Coventry Meadows Senior Community on W. Jefferson Blvd., Fort Wayne. Learn about the Indiana Academy of Science’s BioBlitz to take place at Eagle Marsh May 31 – June 1 and how to conduct a BioBlitz of your own outdoor space. Sponsored by Little River Wetlands Project.
