CLEAN SWEEP

None of us like to see trash and debris on the side of the road, sidewalk or river bank – and that’s why residents are being asked to pitch in and be part of the City of Fort Wayne’s Great American Cleanup™ event.

Volunteers of all ages are asked to show their community pride and join in on the annual Great American Cleanup™ on Saturday, May 17, 2014.

Residents, families, churches, youth organizations or schools are asked to register at www.cityoffortwayne.org/greatamericancleanup or by calling 311

Pre-registration allows the City to accommodate volunteers with event tee-shirts, gloves, and trash bags.
Last year more than 190,000 pounds of litter and debris was collected from Fort Wayne’s neighborhoods, parks, roadways, trails and riverbanks.

The Great American Cleanup™ is the country’s largest beautification and community improvement effort. Nationwide, there were more than four million volunteers last year. Fort Wayne’s clean-up efforts focus on neighborhoods, vacant lots, trails and greenways, graffiti removal, streets and roads, and our rivers. The event provides a great opportunity for neighborhood associations, church groups, service organizations, youth groups, schools, and all residents to make a difference in their community.
