OUTDOOR BOARDS HELP REDUCE CRIME

Next month, Fort Wayne area residents will begin seeing new outdoor advertising boards with messages from Greater Fort Wayne Crime Stoppers. They call attention to the work that group has done to help stop and solve crimes and indicate the organization will turn 30 years old in November.

The messages are being displayed on a dozen outdoor boards in the area and are appearing thanks to the generosity of Eagle Outdoor Sign Company of Warsaw and Custom Art Screen Printing, Fort Wayne.

Greater Fort Wayne Crime Stoppers is a 501(c)(3) not-for-profit organization that relies solely on donations and the generosity of local business partners. Crime Stoppers was formed in November 1983 and since that time has paid cash rewards of nearly $450,000 for more than 6,300 tips it received that resulted in more than 10,000 arrests.

Citizens with information about crimes or criminal activity are encouraged to contact Crime Stoppers at 260-436-STOP or via the website www.crimestoppersfw.org.
Crime Stoppers rewards are paid upon the arrest of a person or persons who have been charged with a felony. Crime Stoppers provides information received from individuals about crimes to the appropriate police agencies and uses a long-proven method of protecting the identity of the person who provides it with the information.
