ON MAKING MOVES

It was now or never! Tony Kanaan had wanted it all his life. He’d been in the lead on 221 laps in previous Indianapolis 500’s, and never won. They were all on the yellow flag caution. Three laps left. If he didn’t make a move, and there was another yellow lap coming up, he’d be stuck behind and couldn’t possibly win.

So when the restart came, he zipped around the leader and roared to the lead. Almost immediately after, there was a crash – another yellow caution flag came out, and he was sitting there with three laps to go.

“How funny is life?” he said. “The yellow was my best friend! I have to say the last lap was the longest lap of my life.”

“Sarah married seven times, and all her husbands died on the very night they approached her,” her father told Tobiah.

But Tobiah, when Sarah’s parents left the bedroom the night of their marriage, said to his wife, “Get up. Let us pray and beg our Lord to have mercy on us.”

They said a prayer, ending it with “Amen, Amen.” Tobia saying, “Lord, you know that I take this wife of mine, not because of lust, but for a noble purpose.”

Next morning, the parents found them both asleep and well, saying joyfully, “What we feared didn’t happen!” They then set aside the shovel with which they had been digging a grave for Tobiah.

Jesus of Nazareth said to Simon and his brother Andrew, “Come with me. I will make you fishers of men.” They immediately abandoned their nets and became His followers.”

“Rejoice in hope, be patient under trial, persevere in prayer,” says the writer in Romans 12.

The next move may be a winner!
