VISIT & REFLECTION WITH HONOR FLIGHT

Honors Flight WolfWaynedale Veteran Gene (Geno) Wolf, along with 69 fellow Veterans, 70 volunteers and 10 staff members from Honor Flight Northeast Indiana made up Flight #10 that recently visited Washington, D.C. to reflect at the Memorials dedicated to them for sacrifices and doing their part in preserving America’s Freedom.

The one-day trip that occurred on May 29, is free of charge to the honored Veterans. Priority is given to WWII and Veterans battling a current illness. Each Veteran is assigned a volunteer to assist them throughout the day. In certain circumstances, at their own expense, a next generation family member can be the Veteran’s assigned volunteer.

Special thanks to Honor Flight Board Member Brent Roddy for assisting in making this dream possible for Gene. Gene, like most of the other Veterans has never been able to visit their Dedicated Memorials.

Honor Flight provides a way for Veterans to “Visit and Reflect.”

Thank you to Waynedale’s American Legion Post 241 and their Commander Kenneth Holloway, who without hesitation donated funds so that Gene’s son Kreig Wolf could be his assigned family member volunteer. Thanks to the Post Ladies Auxilliary and the Honor Guard for being present to send off and welcome Gene home.

Not only was this a day of reflection for Gene, it was also a special day for a father and his son.
