ABIGAYIL THE CAT AT THE MANGER

ABIGAYIL THE CAT AT THE MANGERUnited Faith Presbyterian Church, 1616 West Main Street, invites the public to a special worship program at 5pm on December 24, Christmas Eve, featuring a dramatic presentation by Ruth Tyndall Baker as Abigail, the Cat at the Manger.
Partnering with the Fort Wayne Animal Care and Control, they ask that cans of cat and dog food are brought for animals at the shelter. The story told by Baker, a Fort Wayne playwright, is based upon the book written by Rouben Mamoulian.

Peggy Bender, Community Relations and Education Specialist, is pleased that during this desperate time of need, this program will help to add weight to the dogs and cats that are brought in. “The shelter has dried food but we need the wet food to put immediate weight on these starving animals that are dropped off.”

The story Baker will dramatize tells of how Abigail, the cat, observed all that happened in the cave-barn the night of Jesus’ birth: how her paw was injured, and how, when she leaped for the unusual star, she was filled with joy, was healed, and somehow knew the birth of the baby would change the world and that this story must be told from one generation to the next.
