Jim Lambert receiving a plaque for “South Side Optimist of the Year” award from past President Joe Crozier. The South Side Optimist Club has seen to the betterment of children and their communities. Through the volunteer efforts of millions of people, the world in which they live is made a better place. Optimists leave a legacy of caring, sharing, leadership and love.

What will your legacy be? What will you leave behind when you are finished? What will people say when you are not around? Will you have made planet Earth a little better place than when you arrived? Have you offered other people an opportunity to better themselves?

The South Side Optimist Club is dedicated to “bringing out the best in kids” and do their part through community service programs. Optimists have the unique flexibility to serve the youth of their community in any way they see fit, and react to it.

The Optimist’s mission is to foster an optimistic way of life, through a network of optimists, dedicated to the full development of their potential in order to provide ever expanding service to youth, the community and the world.

The South Side Optimist Club conducts positive service projects aimed at providing a helping hand to youth. Club Members are best known in their communities for their upbeat attitudes. By believing in young people and empowering them to be the best they can and make this world a better place to live.

Each Optimist Club is formed by people, who wanted to reach out, helping youth and the community. People like you and me. Members of an Optimist Club usually live in, or work in the community.

The Optimist Club is chartered as Member of Optimist International. This gives the Club the right to use the Optimist name and provides each Club with services and programs offered by Optimist International.

The programs and guest speakers offer the members an opportunity to learn, grow and improve themselves, with programs featuring the youth in the community. These meetings help to reinforce our commitment and allow us to take pride in our accomplishments.

If you think you can donate your time and offer your efforts for “bringing out the best in kids” we welcome you to a few of the meetings and decide if you want to be a Club Member of the South Side Optimist Club. The meetings are held every Tuesday morning at 7:00 AM until 8:00 AM at the Renaissance Restaurant at the corner of Tillman Road and US 27 just north of the Menards/Walmart Shopping Center.
