DAY CAMPS FOR CHILDREN AT SALAMONIE LAKE AND OUABACHE STATE PARKS

Ouabache State Park kicks off the summer fun with a “Wetland Wanderings” day camp, June 14-16. Campers will study wetland plants and animals with exciting, hands-on activities. Activities include arts and crafts, a canoeing session and daily hikes. Salamonie Lake will hold its “Wetland Wanderings” day camp, August 3-5.

A “Horse Lovers” day camp will run June 28-30, at Salamonie Lake. Day campers for this event don’t need to be a horse owner to participate. Children will get to pet and learn about different breeds of horses. Proper horse care and grooming of horses will be taught by experienced horse owners.

Camps will run from 9:30 a.m.–3:30 p.m. each day, and are geared for kids ages 7-11. All of the camps will be led by experienced interpretive naturalists.
Each camp is $45 per child with a discount for additional siblings. Registration and a completed health/media release forms are required for each camp. Advance registration is required and space is limited. A snack will be provided, but children should bring a sack lunch with drink each day. Visit www.dnr.IN.gov/uwis for more information about the programs.
