KINGSTON RESIDENCE HOSTS GOOD OLD DAYS FESTIVAL

KINGSTON RESIDENCE HOSTS GOOD OLD DAYS FESTIVAL Kingston Residence of Fort Wayne, 7515 Winchester Road, annually hosts their “Good Old Days” event the second Friday in September. And this year is no exception!

In 2009, over 200 Kingston residents, families and guests from the community enjoyed 23 Model A cars that were on display compliments of the Old Fort Model A Car Club. Membership and publicity chair, Pam Baxter said, “It is our club’s pleasure to share our Model A’s with the community and the residents of Kingston. We enjoy their reminiscing as much as they enjoy seeing the cars. Many of them either owned, were courted in, or learned to drive in this type of car.”

One aspect of the event includes an appraisal fair allowing guests to bring two items to obtain information about their value. Tim and Chris Scheerer of Scheerer McCulloch Auctioneers will provide their expertise in this area. Last year various items such as dolls, dishes, jewelry and figurines were brought in for review.

New to the occasion is the live music of the 40’s, 50’s and 60’s. Locally known radio personality Rod Tanner will be singing and hosting karaoke from 4:30 – 6:00 p.m.

Another new addition will be a quilt display from Pieced Together Quilt Shop. They make custom quilts and recently won an award for making 237 quilts in three weeks for Project Linus; the quilts were then donated to local area hospitals.

Homemade chicken and noodles and mashed potatoes compliments of the Kingston kitchen are on the menu. Fresh, hot caramel popcorn made at the event and creamy ice cream will once again be offered.

Kingston Residence Assisted Living invites you to attend this year’s event on Friday, September 10th from 4:00 p.m. -6:30 p.m. Although the event is free, an RSVP is encouraged. Please call 747-1523 or email cgarrison@kingstonhealthcare.com.
