ESTAL C. SMUTS, 101

ESTAL C. SMUTS, 101, of Fort Wayne, passed away Saturday, June 26, 2010 at Heritage Park. Mr. Smuts was born April 10, 1909 in Wells County, Indiana to the late Ira and Etta (Farrell) Smuts. He retired in 1974 from teaching and working in administration. He began his career at East Union Center School and then went on to teach at North Side & South Side High Schools. Mr. Smuts was a member of Zanesville Church of God , Gideons International and was an avid golfer, playing league golf until the age of 95.

Surviving are sons, Lynn S. “Scotty” (Vicki) Smuts of Fort Wayne, Lex K. (Sandy) Smuts of Escondido, California, sister, Josephine Crowl of Florida, six grandchildren and eleven great grandchildren.

Preceding Mr. Smuts in death are his first wife, Emma Elizabeth (Scott) Smuts, second wife, Justine (Haiflay) Smuts, third wife, Betty (Brunson) Smuts; brothers, Robert, Ruthford, Hansel, Jacob; sisters Grace Priser, Marie Line, Cecile Haley, Vesta Johnson, and Frances Freland.

Services were Wednesday, June 30, 2010 at Zanesville Church of God, 11972 North Marzane Road, Zanesville, at 10:30 A.M. with one hour of calling prior to services. Calling also Tuesday at Elzey-Patterson-Rodak Home For Funerals, 6810 Old Trail Road, Fort Wayne from 4-8 P.M. Burial was in Hoverstock Cemetery, Zanesville.
