PARTICIPATE IN EARTH WEEK EVENTS AT EAGLE MARSH!Little River Wetlands Project will celebrate Earth Week 2010 with an Eagle Marsh clean-up (April 17) and by planting more than 1,000 trees and shrubs at the preserve (April 22 and 23). Anyone interested in helping can learn about these and other volunteer opportunities at a volunteer kick-off event on Saturday, April 10, between 10 a.m. and noon at the Eagle Marsh barn, 6801 Engle Road, Fort Wayne. ~LRWP’s Annual Clean-Up at Eagle Marsh, Saturday, April 17, 10:00am to noon, is a great time of year to pick up litter before our plants grow too tall. Bring gloves if you have them; we’ll supply the bags. Meet at the Eagle Marsh barn, 6801 Engle Road, Fort Wayne.

~Earth Day Tree Planting at Eagle Marsh: Thursday, April 22, 4:00pm to 5:00pm, meet at the Eagle Marsh barn, 6801 Engle Road, Fort Wayne. Plant 210 native Indiana trees for LRWP’s anniversary in 2010 while showing what it means to be a good steward of the earth. Bring work gloves, water to drink and shovels if you have them. (If you wish to bring a group to this event, please let us know at 260-478-2515.)

~Tree Planting at Eagle Marsh sponsored by Senator Richard Lugar, Little River Wetlands Project, Aboite New Trails, and Trees Indiana: Friday, April 23, at 4:00 p.m. Help plant 800 native trees and shrubs donated by Vallonia Nursery (Vallonia, Indiana) at the west end of Eagle Marsh. Meet at the Boy Scout office parking lot at the end of Olde Canal Place Road (Verizon exit off of W. Jefferson, opposite Lutheran Hospital exit). Call 260-422-1505 for more information.
