SMOKE ON THE WIND
FAMILY TREE
Walking in the woods, I came to a clearing. I sat on a log, gazing at the trees all around me. I was wondering what were their names. I also thought it to be a good place to offer tobacco. I stood to say a prayer and honor the directions, then I sat down on the log again with my eyes closed. Meditating on the beauty of this special place.
I felt the trees whisper to me.
“We will tell you our names now. Among us there is Hope, Trust, Respect, Honor, Harmony, Love, and Friendship. It is good to have you among us. We are honored, you are honored, it’s a good day.”
