MAE JULIAN
I know it’s like singing to the choir to send pictures and news of our ice storm to the Fort, but I couldn’t resist. We don’t have storms like this every winter. The first couple of days were not too bad, as we maintained our electricity when almost everyone else lost theirs. We invited in a lot of the kid’s friends who were freezing. We invited adults also, but they chose to stick it out, or drive 20+ miles to a motel once all in Louisville were full. The Salvation Army has done a terrific job, and the National Guard has gone out of its way to protect our citizens. Traffic accidents were so numerous it amazed me that people were out trying to navigate.
We are slowly getting back to normal, and with some luck, Betsy may have power this weekend, and everyone can settle back home. Me…I’ll go back to my needlepoint and wait for spring. It sure makes you fully appreciate Thomas Edison, and what he brought about. I find that doing without electricity is like living in the stoneage, or so it seems.
Hope everyone in Waynedale has recovered sufficiently, and we will all just have to put up with this GLOBAL WARMING! (I knew they were full of it!)
Hang in there,
Mae Julian
