COMPUTER GENIUS

Once again my curiosity lead me to something I thought might be of interest to some of you. Two Television shows that I enjoy are in the same time slot, so I recorded one for later viewing. Unfortunately the one I recorded ran late and I missed the end of the show.

Until now I was unaware that you can go online and watch TV for free, and not just American channels, but shows from many countries. There are educational shows, online courses, sports, religion, movies and just about anything you want. So if you’re out having a great meal with your friends, but in the back of your mind thinking “I’ve got to get home to see my favorite show” relax and enjoy the evening. Google your show and find out where it’s being shown online.

I know that most everyone is cautious about what you download, so I will tell you now that anything you watch online requires your computer to run a small program called active x. Usually a window will pop up and ask if you want to install it, or a small bar at the top of your internet page will appear and ask if you want to install active x. If this happens don’t be alarmed it isn’t something trying to infect your computer, go ahead and allow it to install.

What I really like about online TV is the variety; if you’re part of the older generation (like me) you can watch some of the classics from the 50’s and 60’s, and for the younger ones, there are many music video channels. One site www.tvchannelsfree.com/How-to-watch-Online-TV.php boasts almost 3500 cannels to watch. It was a hoot watching QVC in Japanese, and Baywatch in French. I suppose if you are trying to learn a second language, or practice your British accent for the next murder mystery dinner, this would be a great way to supplement, the book or tapes you have been listening to. There are also live cam feeds so you can watch everything from bunnies and hummingbirds to beach TV in Holland.

So if you’re bored watching reruns and the same old shows night after night. Crank up your computer and take a tour of the world, while watching what other people consider entertainment. And remember, if for some reason your computer doesn’t have sound or the picture won’t play correctly you can bring it down to Computer Genius.
