DEAN PAUL LAHR, AGE 76

DEAN PAUL LAHR, age 76, of Huntington, IN, born May 27, 1932 in West Rock Creek Township, Huntington County, died Saturday, July 19, 2008 at his residence. Dean Lahr was a lifetime Rock Creek Township farmer and retired in 2002 from Majestic Company in Huntington, IN after 36 years in the shipping and receiving department. He graduated from West Rock Creek High School in 1950 and was a member of the Loon Creek Church of the Brethren. He was united in marriage to his wife Marilyn J. (Monteith) Lahr on September 18, 1955 in Elkhart, Indiana.
Dean was a very loving & caring man devoted to his wife, sons, daughter-in-laws, grandsons & granddaughter.

Surviving are his wife of 52 years Marilyn J. (Monteith) Lahr of Huntington; sons Steven William Lahr of Huntington & Douglas Paul Lahr of Fort Wayne; daughter-in-laws Michele Dawn Lahr of Huntington & Lisa Ann Lahr of Fort Wayne; granddaughter Shantel Nicole Lahr of Fort Wayne; grandsons Travis Allen Lahr & Trenten Dean Lahr both of Huntington; mother-in-law Vera Monteith of Heritage Pointe, Warren, formally of Elkhart; sister-in-laws Diane Surface of Huntington & Joyce (Monteith) Krider of Elkhart; Brother-in-laws Richard Surface of Huntington & Rex Krider of Elkhart; nephew Aaron Krider (Deana) of Fort Wayne; niece Ann Cooksey of Florida. He also had two great nieces Robin of Florida, Deandra of Texas; and one great nephew Nathaniel of Fort Wayne, IN.

He was preceded in death by his mother & father, Guy and Mary Helen (Davis) Lahr, brother Don K. Lahr and nephew Kevin M. Lahr.

Visitation was Friday, July 25, 2008 at Bailey-Love Mortuary, Huntington, IN. Funeral service was Saturday, July 26, 2008 at Bailey-Love Mortuary with Pastor Kellie Herber officiating. Burial was at the Star of Hope Cemetery, Huntington, IN.

Memorials can be made to the Huntington County 4-H Fair in care of Bailey – Love Mortuary, 35 West Park Drive, Huntington, IN 46750.

He will be truly missed. May he rest in peace until we all meet again one day in God’s Heavenly Kingdom.
