CHIPS
One day Hannah was walking her dog Chips, when she noticed that the next-door neighbors had been dog-sitting for a dog named T-Bone-Laynie. She went up and talked to them first to find out. They said that T-bone-L was a Chow. That was a mean kind of dog. So Hannah finished her walk and then came home for lunch.
She told her family about the neighbors watching over such a mean dog. Her mom said not all Chows were mean. She said in her childhood she had one that was a nice dog. “But,” said Hannah,” not this Chow. “Emily, the neighbor, said this dog was vicious. Well, it may be, but I’m sure it hasn’t harmed you any. Now lunch is over, so go let Chips in the backyard,” said her mom. So Hannah did as she was told.
Chips and Hannah started to hear barking. She then went outside and T-bone-L had been in Emily’s backyard viciously barking at Hannah and Chips. So, Chips ran to the fence and barked too, getting in a fight. Soon enough T-bone-L jumped the fence and bit Chips in the face. They angrily started fighting and Chips was losing. Hannah started screaming and everyone ran outside to break it up when Hannah also got bit.
Finally when all the fighting stopped Hannah was rushed to the Emergency Room. Chips was nearly dead. They didn’t know if he would make it. So when Hannah got out of Emergency, they rushed to the vet where Chips had been taken. They were working hard to save him. It was getting late and they were still caring for him. Chips was almost dead and the vet had to keep him overnight. They got a call the next morning. Chips was still alive, but, they would have to keep him over for about a week or 2. About a month later they got a call saying Chips died. So they rushed there right away with tears pouring out of their eyes. All of them were just sobbing and knew they could do nothing about it.
They had a funeral at a human graveyard. His gravestone read, “You must always stand up for yourself, if you are attacked. He took your life but it will damage his soul.” “Here lies Chips. Born August 3, 2005, and ended March 5, 2008. From then on the family never forgot Chips, and knew he was not to be replaced. But Chips was always remembered as a hero who did not back down.
