DERBY GIRLS ANNOUNCES 2008 SEASON DATES

The Fort Wayne Derby Girls, Fort Wayne’s only all-female, flat-track professional roller derby league, has announced its 2008 season dates.

 

After a successful second season that featured three home teams and an all-star team, Fort Wayne Derby Girls has decided to combine two of its three home teams. The Little Arsenic Annies and The Alpha Dollz will play this season as the Lucky Harmers. The first bout of the season will be held on April 19, 2008, at the PLEX and will feature 2007 season champs the Smokin’ Guns versus the newly formed Lucky Harmers.

 

2008 Home Bout Dates: April 19, May 17, July 19, and August 16

All home bouts are played at The Plex, located at 1805 E. California Road in Fort Wayne. The doors open at 6:00 p.m., bout starts at 7:00 p.m. Tickets can be purchased at The Plex, Bikes and Boards, Get Wet, or from any derby girl for $10 in advance. Tickets are $12 at the door.

The Fort Wayne Derby Girls’ all-star team, The Bomb Squad, which is ranked 23rd in the nation, is out to prove it is a force to be reckoned with in the WFTDA (Women’s Flat Track Derby Association) and has scheduled an aggressive interleague season.

 

Interleague Bout Dates:

April 12- vs. Cincinnati Roller Girls in Cincinnati

May 3- vs. Brew City Bruisers (from Milwaukee) at the PLEX

June 7- vs. Arch Rival Roller Girls (from St. Louis) at the PLEX

June 20-22- East Coast Extravaganza in Philly (tournament)

July 12- vs. Atlanta Roller Girls in Atlanta

Sept 13- vs. Burning River Roller Girls in Cleveland

 

In addition to the scheduled home and interleague bouts, the league is bringing international and national roller derby leagues here, September 20, 2008, to the Allen County War Memorial Coliseum for the second annual Fall Brawl tournament.
