HEALTH FAIR AT TRUSTEES OFFICE
Veterans and uninsured and underinsured persons will be able to receive numerous free health care services at the Healthy Cities Health Fair and Veterans’ Stand Down on October 26 at the Wayne Township Trustee’s Office, 320 East Superior Street.
On that day, the entire Trustee’s Office will be transformed into a medical center. Among the free health services to be offered are various types of medical screenings, dental and eye care and adult immunizations including flu shots.
The Stand Down and Health Fair will begin with an opening ceremony at 8:45 a.m. and conclude at 4 p.m. In addition to health services, participants can receive donated winter coats for children and adults, lunch, free haircuts and donated hygiene bags.
The Stand Down and Health Fair is mainly for adults, but lead screening will be available for pre-school aged children.
Many local organizations have come together to plan and participate in this huge event. Wayne Township Trustee Richard Stevenson said, “It is inspiring for our office to be working with all the dedicated groups and volunteers involved with this event.”
Among the participating organizations are Veterans Administration, local hospitals, universities, churches, Board of Health, health care centers, veterans’ organizations, businesses, UAW Union and civic organizations.
“We expect hundreds of people to take part in this awesome event,” Trustee Stevenson noted. “The Health Fair and Stand Down is an event that demonstrates the caring and helpful spirit of Fort Wayne,” Trustee Stevenson added.
