“UNLEASHED” 2007

Sandra Bearman has been dancing since the age of 5 and has always had a passion for dance. Bearman opened Dance Ltd. here in Waynedale at 2604 Lower Huntington Road over 20 years ago.

The studio started off small and over the years it has grown to be a great success. Dance Ltd. has around 250 students ranging from age 3 to adult who take classes up to three days each week. The students have a very active year; they participate in competitions, workshops, conventions, recitals, and local festivals. They have even participated right here in Waynedale at the Waynedale Picnic. Students also have been selected to represent the State of Indiana at the Dance Excellence Festival in Los Angeles, California. They have always received excellent scores and ratings from the judges when they participate in the CA festival. So you could say they are always on their “toes.”

Sandi Bearman could not do all this work without the help of her wonderful and very talented staff of teachers which consist of: Sharon White who has been with Dance Ltd. for the past 20 years, Jennie French, Melissa Johnson, and Ashley High who were all former students and are currently doing an amazing job with the Creative, Hip-Hop, and Adult program. The assistant teachers are Laura Snyder, Olivia Bearman, Jessica Hunnicutt, LaLinda Myers, and Courtney White, along with the studio’s receptionist Shelly Raugh. The staff of Dance Ltd. continues to help the students each week grow in their knowledge and ability of dance.

Dance Ltd. has had many recitals throughout the years and this year they will have their production entitled, “Dance Ltd. Unleashed.” The show is scheduled for Saturday, May 26 at 6:30 pm at the Scottish Rite Auditorium, 431 W. Berry St., and it will be open to the public. Tickets for this event can be purchased at the studio in May or at the door.

The production this year will have an animal theme, which will tell a story about various animals and creatures of nature throughout the show. The dancing in the show will consist of Ballet, Tap, Jazz, Clogging, Hip-Hop, Pointe, and Creative Movement. There will also be selections in the show from the Lion King, Swan Lake, a father-daughter dance, and even the mom’s of some of the students will be performing.

The staff and students are working very hard each week to put their heart and soul into this production so that it can be the best it can be.

I have been a student at Dance Ltd. for 12 years now. It has been such an amazing experience for me, because I have learned so much about the art of dance and also a lot of great techniques and skills. I have also learned many good values through the years, and I hope to be able to share my knowledge and passion for dance with children in the future at Dance Ltd.

This is not only a dance studio, it is a place to call home, and we have all become one big family through the years and I hope that our relationships with each other will continue to grow even stronger.

Sandi Bearman has been a role model to many students and I know she has inspired me. She is truly an amazing woman and her motto for the studio has always been to “emphasize fun while learning.” She has always taught the students to follow their hearts and dreams, but no matter what “believe in yourself and you will succeed.”

There have been many accomplishments and success stories here at Dance Ltd., and I am sure that there are many more to come. The staff and students would love to have you come to the production and see all the hard work, dedication, and talent that has been put into this show.

If you are interested in taking classes, there will be an Open House in August for the 2007-2008 dance year or call 747-7463.
