SENATOR NUGENT ENDORSED BY NRA
State Senator Johnny Nugent (R-Lawrenceburg) has been notified by the Secretary of the National Rifle Association (NRA) that he has been nominated by petition of the membership for elections to serve on the NRA’s National Board of Directors.
Nugent has been a longtime supporter of gun rights, both personally and professionally as a legislator. An NRA Endowment Life member, Nugent is also a life member of the Indiana Rifle and Pistol Association. He also belongs to the Ohio Gun Collectors Association, the Amateur Trapshooting Association and the National Muzzle Loading Rifle Association.
“I am proud of my record in support of the 2nd amendment, and I’m honored to be put on the ballot for this prestigious position,” said Nugent. “I want the opportunity to continue to defend and protect our 2nd amendment rights for our children and grandchildren.”
Nugent is already endorsed for the NRA position by the Indiana Rifle and Pistol Association (IRPA). The organization’s president, Jerry Wehner, said the group was proud to support Nugent and to have a life member of their organization in the running for the NRA’s National Board of Directors.
“One of my top priorities while serving in the Indiana General Assembly has been defending gun rights of collectors, shooters, sportsmen/women, as well as, all law-abiding gun owners,” Nugent said.
Eligible NRA members will receive a ballot to vote in the election. Official ballots with Nugent’s name will be included in the voting issue of “The American Rifleman,” “The American Hunter,” and “America’s 1st Freedom” and sent to all members entitled to vote in the 2007 election of directors.
