HOKE’S TO CELEBRATE THEIR 60THANNIVERSARY
Homer and Helen (Conahan) Hoke will be celebrating their 60th wedding anniversary with an Open House to be held Sunday, November 12th, from 2 to 5 p.m., at the Southwest Fire District Training Center (formerly and better-known as the Community Building) behind the fire station at 7001 Old Trail Road.
They were married November 9th, 1946, in Columbia City by Homer’s uncle, Frank Crabill.
They have four children: John (wife Ruthann), Kathleen, Janice (husband Jeff) Baber, and Kolleen Blaettner. Five grandchildren: Jaymi (husband Shadd) Rodgers, Danielle Hoke, Jeana Baber, Jared Baber, and Jessica Baber. Two great-grandchildren: Johnathan & Cory Rodgers”
Homer was discharged from the Army on January 6, 1946, and went to work for Charles Schmidt, the man who started Waynedale Plumbing Supply two years before. Homer purchased the business in 1950, is now part-owner with his brother Virgil, and still works there today six days a week.
