35-FOOT SPRUCE COMES TO BROADWAY PLAZA

Steve Shine and Tom Hardin, partners in the law firm of Shine & Hardin, LLP, along with Gary Chappell and Brian Adams, partners in Chappell’s Coral Grill and Seafood Market, welcomed the arrival of a 35-foot Norway Spruce located at the Broadway Plaza on Beaver Avenue in front of their places of business on Monday, November 13 at 10:00am. Shine, Hardin, and Chappell are co-partners in the ownership of the Broadway Plaza, as well as the annual Christmas tree presentation.

The spruce, which was donated by Fort Wayne residents, Tom and Liz O’Brien, will be illuminated during a lighting ceremony on Friday, November 17 beginning at 5:45pm. The ceremony will serve as Fort Wayne’s kick-off for the 2006 holiday season.

Steve Shine said that the tree represents a gift to the seven neighborhoods surrounding the Broadway Corridor.

“We value the strength of these great neighborhoods and the pride that the residents take in their homes and property,” Shine said. Gary Chappell also added, “We hope this holiday gift will help spruce up the neighborhoods for the holiday season. Chappell’s values the neighborhoods and our participation in this annual event is just one way to show our commitment.”

Santa and Mrs. Claus will be making an early arrival to greet all the children along with a live reindeer for all to see. There will also be hot chocolate and cookies for everyone to enjoy. Live holiday music will be provided by local recording artist Francie Zucco, along with the Ron Gregory Trio. A unique feature this year will be a holiday train ride (the Polar Express) for the children, which will be located in the parking lot adjacent to the plaza.

Shine has said that the event would not be possible without the generosity of several Fort Wayne businesses that have provided their services without charge so that the children can have an even brighter holiday season. Those businesses include Harold McComb & Son, Inc., Summit City Electric, VisionScapes Lawn and Landscape, Mudrack Tree Service, MacDonald Machinery Co., and Exquisite Designs.

The lighting ceremony will be broadcast live on WAJI Majic 95.1 and will be seen as part of Steve Shine’s Holiday Movie Marathon to be telecast this year on the digital television services of Indiana’s NewsCenter.
