LITTLE RIVER WETLAND UPCOMING EVENTS

Wetland Birds Slideshow – September 21, 7 p.m.
Northern Pintail, Buffleheads, Spotted Sandpipers, and more! Join Paul McAfee, expert Birder and Photographer, as he shares his bird photos and explains the general life histories of many wetland birds. Registration is required. Please call the Little River office to reserve a seat. Meet at the Residence Inn, 7811 West Jefferson Blvd.

 

Bird-A-Long – October 14, 8 a.m. -12 p.m.
Stockbridge Audubon Society, ACRES Land Trust and Little River Wetlands Project join forces to search for fall migrating birds! Join local expert Birders, Jim Haw and Ed Powers on a tour of Arrowhead Marsh, Arrowhead Prairie and Little Wabash Nature Preserve! Novices to expert birders are welcome. Please meet in the grass parking lot at Arrowhead Marsh and don’t forget your binoculars! After touring Arrowhead Marsh everyone will carpool to the other sites.

 

Headwaters! – October 19, 7 p.m.
What makes the Little River a ‘headwater’? And for what? (Here’s a clue: the largest body of water in the State of Indiana.). Join Ron James as he brings home his presentation on the ‘Little’ Wabash River, its status as a headwater, and why the Wabash is important – especially to us! Ron is 8 year President of the Fort Wayne Chapter of the Izaak Walton League, Executive Director of the Wabash River Heritage Corridor Commission and a past president of the Little River Wetlands Project. Registration is required. Please call the Little River office to reserve a seat. Meet at the Residence Inn, 7811 West Jefferson Blvd.

 

Little River Ramblers
Join Little River Wetlands Project weekly hiking group at Eagle Marsh every Tuesday from 9-11 a.m. Meet at the barn off Engle Road and hike 2-3 miles to explore the property and record the present flora and fauna. Make sure to dress for the weather and bring your field guides! Hope to see you there!

 

Breakfast on the Marsh
Well-seasoned nature lovers (55+), please join Little River Wetlands Project for a monthly breakfast buffet, program and optional walk around Eagle Marsh. Please see program topics below. Meet at 8 a.m. at the Residence Inn on U.S. 24 the second Thursday of every month. Space is limited to 20 participants so please call or email and reserve your place!
