“Any country that accepts abortion, is not teaching its people to love, but to use any violence to get what it wants.” Mother Theresa.

Every Thursday at 7 a.m., whether it is 0 degrees or 80 degrees, a dedicated group of high school students are making a difference. Between 60-80 Bishop Luers and Bishop Dwenger students roll out of bed early and meet on Webster Street, the location of Fort Wayne’s abortion clinic.

Before 7 a.m. on February 9, the Jubilee Pilgrim Cross was transported downtown to the abortion clinic.

Braving the frigid weather and enhancing the 150-year diocesan celebration, students from Luers and Dwenger high schools prayed the Rosary at the cross and were joined at 7:30 a.m. by junior high students from St. Therese.

The students peacefully pray a Rosary asking the Blessed Mother to intercede for the women who will destroy the lives of their babies.

On that Thursday, these dedicated students gathered around the Jubilee Cross, which states “His steadfast love endures forever.” These young people know what happens inside the abortion clinic, these young people know what sacrifices are, these young people are the next generation representing truth and real love. These young people don’t sleep as long as they wish on Thursday mornings because of the wisdom that Mother Theresa has pierced in their hearts, “It is a poverty to decide that a child must die so that you may live as you wish.”

They are out fighting poverty. May we be inspired by their example.
