THE VOICE OF THE TOWNSHIP

Wayne Township Trustee’s Office Would Like to be Indiana’s Number One Free Income Tax Preparation Site!

On Saturday, January 28, 2006 The Wayne Township Trustee’s Office got off to a roaring start in its quest to become the number one site in the entire State of Indiana for free income tax preparation. With about double the returns of last year on the Super Saturday kickoff day, this quest could become a reality. The Wayne Township Office is now also offering Monday through Thursday preparation times from 12:00 – 3:00 P.M. in addition to Saturdays throughout the tax season. Most returns take less than 2 weeks to receive your refund(s).

This effort is a joint project of the; Internal Revenue Service, Volunteer Center at RSVP, Mayor Graham Richards office, and Wayne Township Trustee Matt Schomburg, all a part of the “Money in Your Pocket” campaign. This campaign is intended to bring back as much of the estimated four million dollars in local earned income tax credit available to low-income families in our community.

If all of the families eligible for an Earned Income Tax Credit would file for this credit, it would bring back the estimated four million directly into their pockets. How is that for a boost to the buying power of our local citizens? Not to mention this revenue infused into our local economy would likely add employment opportunities at the very places that lower income families spend their disposable income.

The guidelines and sites for this year’s program are as follows:

This past year it was estimated that almost two million dollars were brought to the community largely in part because of this partnership. Our goal for the current tax season is two million seven hundred thousand dollars.

It’s not very often that you can lead the entire State in something so beneficial to the community. We are so very thankful that the qualifying families have such a great trust in the partnerships of the Wayne Township Office. Our appreciation in your confidence continues to grow in relationship to your giving us the opportunity to serve you!

Thanks for allowing us to do what we do best.
