MOUNT CALVARY LUTHERAN PRESCHOOL CHILDREN “GIFT” HURRICANE KATRINA SCHOOL
The children and families of Mt. Calvary Lutheran Preschool in Waynedale collected nearly $200 for a Lutheran Preschool in New Orleans.
“This preschool has lost everything and will need our support of generous gifts and prayers in order to reopen and serve their surrounding community,” said Sue Doepner, Director at Mr. Calvary.
The teachers decorated a tree with bell-shaped ornaments, each one having a picture of an item used in a preschool classroom. The families were invited to choose an ornament from the tree and then contribute money toward the purchase of the item.
Mt. Calvary Lutheran Preschool contributes annually to a charity in Fort Wayne each December in lieu of a children’s gift exchange. This year it was decided to help those affected by Hurricane Katrina.
The children and families are appreciative of the rich preschool environment they are blessed with and were happy to share with those less fortunate!
