CHILDREN’S AUTHOR VISITS FIRST GRADE
Carolyn Crimi, noted children’s author from Chicago, visited kindergarten and first grade students at St. Joseph – St. Elizabeth Ann Seton School in Fort Wayne on September 16. Crimi led the students on a “story hunt” which demonstrated her writing process and ideas on developing stories.
Lois Widner, Principal at SJSEAS states, “This was a wonderful opportunity for our younger students to learn how to think creativity. Not only does this promote a love of reading, it also stresses the importance of the writing process.”
The students were the first children to hear her new book, Henry and the Buccaneer Bunnies, that was just released in bookstores. In addition to writing children’s books and doing school visits for author talks, Crimi teaches courses on children’s writing at several colleges and she writes stories and articles for textbooks and magazines.
