WAYNEDALE HISTORIAN PASSES AWAY
Edgar B. Noble Jr. died on Friday, April 22, at Woodcrest Retirement Community. Edgar Noble’s father, Ed Noble Sr. was one of the founding fathers of Waynedale. He started the Noble’s Homestore at the corner of Ideal Avenue and McArthur Drive in 1920.
Ed Noble Sr. had two sons, Edward Jr. and Alfred “Jim” Noble. Jim was a previous owner of The Waynedale News and his brother Ed Jr. did some of the writing.
Edward Jr. was a WWII Veteran, and was listed on the original Waynedale Chamber of Commerce. His writings included; Waynedale’s Canals and Early Trappers, Waynedale’s First Millionaire (Chief Richardville), The Growth of Transportation, Early Waynedale Roads, Waynedale’s First Businesses, The Naming of Waynedale, Waynedale’s First Airport, The Introduction of the Telephone and Waynedale’s First Library.
Ed and his wife Barbara were long time members of Waynedale United Methodist Church. The Waynedale News along with all of the community wish to express our condolences to Dorothy, their two children, Alfred and wife LeAnna Noble, Dorothy (Noble) Euske, her husband William, and their entire family.
