RICHARD L. RAMSEY, 79
RICHARD L. RAMSEY, 79 died Tuesday, November 23, 2004, at Markle Health Care in Markle. He was born March 31, 1925, in Fort Wayne, the son of Earl Logan Ramsey and Edna (Reynolds) Ramsey. He was a U.S. Army Veteran of World War II, serving in the European Theater, and received the Silver Star, Bronze Star and Purple Heart. He was a life member of V.F.W. Post 857, American Legion Post 241, and AmVets Post, and DAV #1. He was a salesman for Frank’s Wholesale Florist in Fort Wayne for 29 years, retiring in 1987.
He married Anna May (Siebold) Ramsey, September 11, 1945; she preceded him in death, August 26, 1974. He then married Dollie Irene (Liston) Sage Ramsey, April 29, 1977, in Huntertown; she survives.
Other survivors include two sons, Richard W. Ramsey and Dennis W. Ramsey, both of Fort Wayne; two daughters, Cindy M. Niman of Fort Wayne and Carol A. Jacobs of Michigan; two stepchildren, Valerie D. Fowler and Cheryl A. Matson, both of Fort Wayne; six sisters, Margaret Johnson, Elsie Shady, Ruth McComb, Annie Stone and Alice Stone, all of Fort Wayne, and Mildred Harris of Zanesville; 13 grandchildren; 19 great-grandchildren; and one great-great-grandchild.
He was preceded in death by three sisters and two brothers.
Service was Saturday, November 27 at Covington Memorial Funeral Home, 8408 Covington Road, conducted by The Rev. Mark Brown. Burial in Covington Memorial Gardens in Fort Wayne.
