THE GREAT BATTERY ROUND-UP
Hires Automotive Centers of Fort Wayne is honored to be a part of this year’s AAA Chicago Motor Club and Exide Batteries “Great Battery Round-up.” Local residents seeking a place to dispose of old automotive and/or marine batteries may drop them off at their nearest Hires Automotive Center between April 19 and April 26. For each battery collected, Exide will give AAA Chicago Motor Club $1.50 to donate to the American Lung Association. Properly disposing of old batteries at your nearest Hires Automotive Center will benefit both the environment as we celebrate Earth Day on April 22, as well as, the great work done at the American Lung Association. Hires Automotive Centers are conveniently located at (North) 1620 Northland Blvd.; (South) at 7111 South Anthony Blvd.; (West) at 5809 Illinois Rd.; (East/New Haven) at 425 U.S. 930 East; and in Angola at 1905 N. Wayne St.

OUTSTANDING
TULIP DISPLAY
One of the Midwest’s most outstanding tulip gardens will be reaching its peak blooming period this month. Located at Foster Park, the garden has more than 30,000 tulip and daffodil bulbs to herald spring’s arrival.
Located at 3900 Old Mill Road, Foster Park is admired by tourists and residents alike. Fort Wayne Parks and Recreation gardeners take pride in their seasonal floral displays, but have a soft spot for the tulips.
“We look for unique flowers, with names like Blueberry Ripple, Sun Ray, Violet Beauty, Parrot, and Triumph,” said Larry Walter, manager of landscape and horticulture. “This year’s display, with more than 75 tulip varieties, is not to be missed!”
Bring your family, or just stop by, and enjoy this fabulous sign of spring.

CANOE THE PIGEON RIVER

The trip will begin at Fox Island in the morning and proceed to the Pigeon River through car pooling. Lunch will be provided in the afternoon. The trip will be guided by a naturalist from Fox Island County Park.
