ARMIN EUGENE “GENE” MITTERMAIER, 71

ARMIN EUGENE “GENE” MITTERMAIER, 71, died Sunday, March 14, 2004. Born April 2, 1932, in Fort Wayne, he was the son of Armin F. and Loretta (Schneider) Mittermaier.

He was a veteran of the U.S. Army and married Marilyn Roberta Stolz in 1956 on a 10-day pass from the service. She preceded him in death in 1996. He married Phyllis Annis in 1998.

Mr. Mittermaier was a former vice-president of Tokhiem Corp. and a member of First Wayne Street United Methodist Church. “He was relentlessly optimistic, a practical joker in his middle years, a man who would play golf in any weather, a gifted pianist and a lifelong learner.”

Survivors include his wife, Phyllis Annis of Fort Wayne; daughters, Carolyn (Bill) DiPaolo of West Palm Beach, Florida, Cheri (Alfred) Gonzalez of Fort Wayne; son, Paul (Laura) Mittermaier of Gulf Breeze, Florida; stepdaughter, Judith (Robert) Miller of Fort Wayne; stepsons, Ronald L. Annis of Fort Wayne and Roger D. Annis of St. John, Michigan; brother, Norman (Bette) Mittermaier of Placerville, California; three grandchildren; and eight step-grand-children.

Funeral service was 11a.m. Thursday, March 18th in First Wayne Street United Methodist Church, 300 E. Wayne St. Calling was also from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8p.m. Wednesday in Klaehn, Fahl & Melton Funeral Homes, Wayne Street Chapel, 420 W. Wayne St. Burial was at Greenlawn Memorial Park.

The preferred memorial is to St. Anne Home.
