THANK YOU EVERYONE
I’ve been laid up now for over 4 weeks with a pinched nerve root in my back. Finally after surgery I felt like a million dollars, minus Uncle Sam’s share of course, and I want to thank everyone who helped me through this agonizing crisis.
I didn’t get all your names but you know who you are ’cause I made you laugh, just a little. You’ll remember me, because I’m the one that shouted “Fire One when the technician put me in the tube for my first MRI. Ok, so it reminded me of a torpedo tube aboard a submarine (I was in the Navy). I’m the one that told the nurses in the operating room, “What you see here stays here; and please, no giggling.” And to Sara – what can I say? When you told me to strip down to just my socks and I replied, “Hey, that sounds just like my wedding night,” I didn’t know you were going to laugh that hard. Well, it was just my way of fighting the pain and suffering that I didn’t want anyone to see.
Laughter heals but it takes dedicated doctors, nurses, and staff people to bring it all together and really put a patient on the road to recovery. Oh, and thank you Kelly; you were like having my own private angel watching over me to see that my medication and shots were on schedule and that my urine was measured and thanks for laughing ‘with’ me.
Since the first of November, I’ve had 4 or 5 doctor visits, an X-ray, a cortisone shot (epidermal I think that’s what they called it), 2 MRI’s, a night in Lutheran Hospital, back surgery, and today they took out the staples. I still have to watch myself and not lift anything over 10 pounds, drive too far without resting, or set too long behind my computer without getting up and moving around for a while. I’m to do all the walking I can and so far I’ve lost 13 pounds.
I know these medical people will say, “Hey, no big deal; it’s my job.” You don’t know what a big deal it was for me to get treated and be back on my feet. Thank each and every one of you and bless you for taking away my pain.
Keep doing what you’re doing; you mean a lot to a lot of people whether you realize it or not.
Thank you and have a Very Happy New Year.
