WAYNEDALE MEMORIAL DAY PARADE PLANNING BEGINS
This year the Waynedale Memorial Day Parade is scheduled for Memorial Day, Monday, May 26th. Line-up prior to the parade will be at Waynedale United Methodist Church (Church Street & Old Trail). The parade will start at 9:00am and those wishing to be in the parade should be at the WUMC parking lot at 8:00am.
Parade sponsors are American Legion Post 241, VFW Post 1421, and AmVets Post 33. Post 241 Commander Charlie Rathsack has already had organizational meetings and the scheduling progress continues.
Last year the parade theme was ‘Response to 9-11’ and was a record year for attendance. The parade ends at Prairie Grove Cemetery with a Military Ceremony following. After the parade, everyone is invited to “Waynedale Days” at the Waynedale Memorial Park on the corner of Koons and Elzey Streets. The Waynedale Lions will be serving food and The Waynedale News will be passing out free fishing poles. The Mizpah Shrine Clowns are scheduled as well as outside activities for the kids.
Mark May 26th on your schedule and plan on attending this once a year gala event.
The Waynedale Memorial Day Parade is sponsored by the local American Legion Posts and is in recognition of our veterans and the contributions they have made to our Country and the continued benefits they provide to our community. This is a great time to come out and show your community spirit and patriotism.
