HERBERT C. BANET, 89
Herbert C. Banet, 89, died Wednesday, March 12, 2003 at Renaissance Village. A native of Fort Wayne, he was a Northrup High School Guidance Counselor and retired in 1979. He was a former teacher and coach at Central High School and a Navy Veteran. He was preceded in death by his wife Kathlyn (Stevens) Banet who passed away in 2001. He was a member of First Christian Church in Fort Wayne and was inducted into the Indiana Basketball Hall of Fame and was also a former Quarterback for the Green Bay Packers in the 1930’s.
He is survived by sons David M. Banet, Chester Springs, Pennsylvania; Thomas C. Banet, Great Falls, Virginia; daughter Sarah R. “Becky” Patton, Fort Wayne; 13 Grandchildren, and 3 Great Grandchildren.
Services were held Saturday, March 15, 2003 at First Christian Church with burial in Falls Cemetery, Wabash, Indiana. Preferred Memorials to First Christian Church, Fort Wayne Rescue Mission, or Fort Wayne Police Athletic League.
