THE VOICE OF THE TOWNSHIP

For its third year in a row, due to the generosity of the Paul Clarke Foundation, Wayne Township is offering a free summer camp to the young people in our community. The summer camp hopes to accomplish two goals. The first is to inspire young people to value education, which is done by combining exciting computer software and technology with hands-on activities and field trips. Children get to use their imagination and creativity making arts and crafts related to a variety of educational topics, such as nature, health, history, the arts, geography, and more. The second goal is to provide a safe and positive environment at no cost to the families.

This camp has four sessions, each two weeks long, from June 10 to August 2. Children who are between grades 1 and 3 attend in the morning, and children between grades 4 and 6 attend in the afternoon. Transportation is provided for Wayne Township residents, on an as-needed basis. Snacks are also provided, free of charge.

Parents may enroll their children in one of the four camps offered. Enrollment materials for the Computer Explorers Camp are available at the Wayne Township Trustee’s Office at 320 E. Superior Street. Please call Dorothy Hairston at 449-7000 Ext. 380 for questions about the camp, as well as for registration information.

One final note…the turnout for the prescription drug cards was incredible. Over 150 people came to Wayne Township on Friday, May 31 to fill out applications for the pharmaceutical companies in hopes that they may provide some much needed financial relief. I was very happy to be able to offer some resources that might help our seniors and disabled citizens.
