PRESCRIPTON FOR LIVING THE GOOD LIFE
1 Treat others as you would like to be treated.
2 Be honest; do not lie, cheat or steal – make your word your bond.
3 Treat life with care; avoid risky behaviors.
4 Practice showing respect for authority; parents, teachers, police and government.
5 Do not let physical or mental abuse go unnoticed.
6 Read a book – regularly.
7 Be tolerant of others’ beliefs.
8 Express honor, love, and respect for your family.
9 Make a commitment to continue education throughout your life.
10 Show respect for all life, human, and animal.
11 Avoid violence, practice non-violence, support peace.
12 Celebrate our differences; sex, race, religion, background, appearance, and disabilities.
13 Seek knowledge, wisdom, and truth.
14 Practice health control; exercise your mind and body.
15 Do not abuse your body – avoid tobacco, alcohol, and drugs.
16 Help those who are suffering or in need.
17 Avoid pregnancy until you are ready to become a parent.
18 Expect to make your own way in life.
19 Practice charity.
20 Respect the environment.
The motto of the Boy Scouts of America is: “Do a Good Turn Daily.” their law reads, “A Scout is trustworthy, loyal, helpful, friendly, courteous, kind, obedient, cheerful, thrifty, brave, clean, and reverent.” Their Oath says, “On my honor, I will do my best to do my duty to God and my country, to obey the Scout law, to help other people at all times, and to keep myself physically strong, mentally awake, and morally straight. It pretty well says the same thing; just fewer words but much easier for a Boy Scout to remember. If you can’t remember all of the first, maybe you can memorize and practice the words the Boy Scouts live by . . .
At a recent Miami District Committee Meeting an election was held for a new Miami District Chairman and Members at Large. Richard Longsworth will replace William Chisholm as our new Miami District Chairman and the Members at Large are: Robert Koehl, John Larsen, Greg Walton, James Fox, William Lamb, Robert Dikty, Kenneth Mike Todd, Christopher Seplak, David Rowe, Earl Kumfer, Janice Heniser, and William Chisholm. The rest of the Miami District Committee is made up of Chartered Organization Representatives.

(The time of the sale will be announced as soon as the garage at the Scout Cabin is full – probably in the early spring.)
Have a garage sale last fall and don’t know what to do with all the ‘leftovers’? Are you still sorting through all the stuff Aunt Judy left you in her will, attic, basement, and closets? Did someone give you a gift at the last ‘white elephant’ party you attended and you want to get rid of it? Got a garage/basement/attic you want emptied of its contents? Want to get rid of old toys, tools, cooking utensils, furniture, etc. after Christmas to make room for the new stuff? Move and haven’t unpacked all the boxes and don’t know what’s in them and haven’t missed the stuff? Don’t open them; call Troop 44.
The leaders said they are willing to come to your house to pick up your donations. You may drop off your donations at the Scout Cabin but you must call first and arrange for someone to meet you there. Please don’t drop anything off in front of the door; it will only get wet or be stolen. Call and have someone meet you there PLEASE. Take a FREE tour of the Boy Scout Cabin while you’re there.

FOR SALE TO THE HIGHEST BIDDER – ROBBIE IRONS’ KOMET JERSEY
This is mounted in a frame with a glass front. It is orange and sports the #30 on the jersey sleeves. There is an engraved plaque on the outside with Robbie Irons’ name on it. This professionally done, glass encased jersey was donated to Boy Scout Troop #44 for their “1ST ANNUAL MOST AWSOME HUMONGUS WAYNEDALE-WIDE GARAGE SALE”, however the leaders think the jersey should be put up for silent auction. Call 747-4535 and make a bid on the jersey. The latest and highest bid will be available in case someone wants to top it. The bid has started at $50.00. The Jersey is on display at THE WAYNEDALE BAKERY, 2610 Lower Huntington Road in Waynedale (they are open from 4am to 4pm M-F and from 4am to 12noon on Saturday – Closed Sundays). Talk to owner Bonnie Harris. Drop off your written bid at THE WAYNEDALE NEWS or give it to Bonnie. Bidding will stop at 4pm January 31, 2002 and the highest bidder will be notified.
