THAT’S THE WAY I SAW IT

KOMET HOCKEY EXHIBIT COMING UP

Don Graham and his “Gallery of Sports” with the cooperation of the Fort Wayne Library Genealogy Department has planned a Fort Wayne Komet Hockey exhibit to be completed the first week of November. The exhibit will be located on the second floor of the downtown library next to the Genealogy Department where the last exhibit of the Daisies has been taken down.

This will be Don Graham’s 5th “Gallery of Sports” exhibits having previously had Fort Wayne Piston’s Softball, Fort Wayne Piston’s Basketball, Fort Wayne Baseball and Fort Wayne Daisies.

This year will mark the 50th year of Fort Wayne Komet Hockey which might be the most successful minor league franchise in the country. Many people including ex-Komet players have volunteered to submit articles for this exhibit. Some autograph sessions will be planned later for all hockey fans to relate to history of the Komets as they remember it.

Ryan Taylor, library employee, and Don Graham have been collecting information about Komet history and have planned to have a book published November 2002. The title of this book hasn’t been decided. This date November 2002 will coincide with the dedication of the Coliseum’s expansion.

This will be a chance for Fort Wayne Fans to review the history of this very successful hockey team.
