LITTLE FLOWER THEATRE PRESENTS WILLY WONKA JR.

Willy Wonka Jr. live on stage Friday, May 14 and Saturday, May 15 at 7pm . Produced and directed by Elaine Hilker Cooper of the St. Therese Little Flower Theatre.Highly successful when it was on Broadway, St. Therese Little Flower Theatre-Waynedale presents the production of Willy Wonka Jr.—a play based on the book Charlie and the Chocolate Factory.

Sixty-five St. Therese Catholic School students, ranging from kindergarten to eighth grade, will be performing this hilarious musical, directed and produced by Elaine Hilker Cooper with assistant directors Jimmy Mitchell, Bridgette Cooper and Megan Cooper.

About the Play~Charlie Bucket, played by Sam Lovejoy, and his family comprise the first half of the play.

They are impoverished—they don’t even have enough money to buy food or clothing. And certainly not candy! But one day a local candy man stops with his cart full of Wonka treats, giving Charlie a sample “on the house,” and yesterday’s paper called The Candy Man.

The paper reports that Willy Wonka (Rachel Beasley) is having a contest and five lucky people will find a Golden Ticket inside their Wonka bar winning the chance to visit the chocolate factory and a lifetime supply of chocolate.

Find out how Charlie Bucket wins a tour of the chocolate factory, and what happens when Charlie and his Grandpa Joe, played by Chris Braun, are separated from the group.

Willy Wonka’s tour with the winner’s/bratty kids and their ill-mannered parents take up the remaining half.

Come watch as the first ticket winner Augustus Gloop, played by Jared Oxley, exercises gluttony. He devours as much chocolate as possible.

Samantha Lee plays the part of Violet Beauregarde ceaselessly chewing bubble gum and disobeying by eating a top-secret gum.

Veruca Salt, aka Shannon Nycum, shouts her famous line, “I want an Oompa-Loompa now, Daddy!”

And Mike Teevee, played by Tony Carsten, is obsessed with TV, video games and computers.

After each child experiences a harsh life lesson, the Oompa Loompas come on stage and sing.

At the conclusion Charlie does something remarkable…gotta be there to find out.

Performances for this year’s children’s spring musical by St. Therese Little Flower Theatre will start at 7pm on Friday, May 14 and Saturday, May 15. Doors will open at 6:15pm at the University of St. Francis-North Campus Auditorium. For ticket details please call the parish or school office at 747-2343.
