ELMHURST SEWERS PRESENT MEMORIAL QUILT
During the month of March The Trojan Memorial Quilt was created by Elmhurst’s fashion basics class. Teacher Beverly Armour-Thomas created the project to build the students’ confidence in basic sewing skills and develop group collaboration skills. Twenty-five new sewers designed a 90” x 90” quilt.
After much hard work, the students decided that they wanted to present their project of Elmhurst colors with pride to the history of Elmhurst High School under the leadership of Mr. Chad Hissong.
Lisa Olinger owner of Common Quilting Calculations donated her services and assisted with stipulating the quilt.
In addition to the wall quilt, students designed quilts that will be donated to the YWCA Domestic Violence Crisis Center. “It is our hope that the quilts will be used for children who use the services of the Center.”
