TOPPS NAMES PLAYERS OF THE YEAR
Former Wizard; Two Future TinCaps Win Awards
Kyle Blanks; Dan Robertson; Jaff Decker
Former Fort Wayne Wizard Kyle Blanks and two future TinCaps in the San Diego Padres minor league system, Dan Robertson and Jaff Decker, earned Topps Player of the Year honors in their respective leagues this season.
Blanks hit .325 with 20 home runs and 107 runs batted in for Double-A San Antonio in the Texas League.
Robertson, an outfielder, hit .377 with three home runs and 45 RBI for the Eugene Emeralds of the Northwest League. He was named the league Most Valuable Player, winning the league batting title and setting a team record with 114 hits in only 73 games.
Decker, also an outfielder, hit .352 with five home runs and 34 RBI with the Arizona League Padres. He was also the second rated prospect in the Arizona League by Baseball America and the top rated prospect by Padres Insider online source MadFriars.com.
