MEMORIAL SERVICE FOR MURDERED MILITARY PERSONAL
On November 11th (Veterans’ Day) at 11am, the Veterans Organizations of northern Indiana will hold a memorial service for the active military personal that were murdered while serving in D. C. in the Pentagon. These defenders of our freedom were assassinated without a chance to defend themselves. The news media has been a little lax in mentioning them. We feel that they have wives, parents, children, and girlfriends the same as the people in the twin towers in New York. This service will be held in Freiman Square. The service clubs have been urged to bring their Color Guards and urge people in their areas to attend.
Our freedom depends on these young men and women who are trained to meet any situation head on. The active troops and the reserves are the backbone of this nation. Without their presence the United States of America would cease to exist. We hope everyone makes an effort to attend.

When the pledge of allegiance was changed from “. . . one nation,” to “. . . one nation under God,” did you notice that there is no comma/no pause after nation? Let’s start saying it right. Say, “. . . one nation under God,” NOT ” . . . one nation (pause) under God.”

NOTE: ON TWO SATURDAY EVENINGS A MONTH WE ARE HAVING BROASTED CHICKEN AND FRENCH FRIES – CHECK CALENDAR FOR DATES.
We hope the Waynedale citizens will come on out and try our broasted fish and chicken OR try one of our delicious T-bone steaks grilled just the way you want it. Oh by the way we also have two shrimp dinners. One shrimp dinner has large shrimp and the other shrimp dinner has small shrimp – approx. 21. Dinners include: tossed salad with dressing, slaw, Jell-O dessert, roll, butter, tartar sauce, shrimp sauce, coffee, and a choice of French fries, macaroni & cheese, or a baked potato. See you there around 5pm?

Saturday, October 27th – Prime Time Band – Costume prizes: 1st Prize is $75 – 2nd Prize is $50 – 3rd Prize is $25.

The $20 yearly dues will change to $25 at the end of the year.

Men’s Meals every Saturday – Veterans’ Day November 11 – Veterans’ Day Parade will be on November 10th.
Auxillary Dinner every Thursday – Weekly Drawing – Entertainment every Saturday – Open Sunday & Thanksgiving Dinner will be on November 18th 1pm to 3pm.
NOTE: At our last Post meeting, it was voted to approve a Men’s #10006 Post Auxillary. We already have some required applications to submit to the VFW Department of Indiana to acquire a charter. Those interested who have widows, sons, fathers, husbands, stepfathers may apply.
EARLY BIRD DINNER WILL BE ON OCTOBER 16 AT 6PM FOR ALL WHO HAVE PAID THEIR 2002 DUES BY SEPTEMBER 30, 2001.

In 1918, on the eleventh hour of the eleventh day in the eleventh month, the world rejoiced and celebrated. After four years of bitter war, an armistice was signed. The “war to end all wars” was over. It was the end of World War I. Twelve years later it became a national holiday.
This day is an occasion to honor those who have served America in all wars.
Fort Wayne’s Veterans Day Parade is scheduled for Saturday, November 10th at 11am. The parade will begin at Parnell Ave. and East State Blvd. and will proceed to the Memorial Coliseum where a ceremony will follow.
On Sunday, Veterans Day, 11/11/01, at 11:11am the ‘traditional’ Veterans Day memorial gestures will take place at Memorial Park—-East Washington and Maumee Ave.
