SCAN FUND RAISER AT INDIAN VILLAGE ELEMENTARY
At 11am on Thursday, November 1, 2001 Mr. Jim Megles’ class at Indian Village Elementary School, 3835 Wenonah Lane, Waynedale donated a check for $162 to SCAN (Stop Child Abuse & Neglect). This money was raised during a bake sale held by the 4th graders. In fact, they also baked the majority of the goodies sold to hungry buyers. Mr. Megles said, “My class not only learned to bake; they also learned about money, marketing, and teamwork”.
The students chose to donate the proceeds to SCAN so the agency could continue to prevent child abuse and neglect in northeast Indiana. SCAN is an affiliated agency of the United Way of Allen County, 500 W. Main St., Fort Wayne. In addition, an engraved stepping stone honoring the class’s efforts will be placed in SCAN’s Children’s Garden at IPFW.
