GIVE A GIFT
There’s one gift you can give that doesn’t require a manual, programming or even batteries. In fact it won’t cost you a dime. This coming new year you can give the gift of life by choosing to become an organ donor. The National Kidney Foundation of Indiana (KNFI) is encouraging all Americans to get into the true spirit of the holiday season by simply signing a donor card and discussing their wishes with their family.

There are more than 78,000 men, women, and children in need of a life-saving organ in the U.S. with nearly 800 awaiting a transplant in Indiana. If every American chose to become an organ donor, this waiting list could be wiped out forever. Sign a donor card; it may be the one gift that could change someone’s life. For more information or to receive your free organ donor card, call 1-800-382-9971.

NATIONAL KIDNEY FOUNDATION OF INDIANA NOW ACCEPTING CAR DONATIONS
Have a car, van, truck, boat, or other vehicle that’s cluttering up your driveway or just sitting around? Want to get rid of it and be able to take the value off your income tax? Donate it to the National Kidney Foundation. Call 1-800-382-9971 to donate your vehicle. It must be whole and have a clear title. Towing is free and vehicle need not be in running condition.

FEATURED ARTWORK FOR THE MONTH OF FEBRUARY IS ACRYLICS BY TERRY HAFFNER
A Portrait of Ability and Inspiration
Terry Haffner has been designing greeting cards, soloed in musicals, and addressing audiences at fundraising dinners before the age of 12. Terry has always been focused and determined. Born with partial legs and without arms, Terry faced many challenges at birth, which turned into opportunities in life as family, teachers, doctors, and community leaders helped Terry see what gifts he had.

With a degree from Purdue University and the special training to allow him to drive a van, Terry now is in high demand as a visiting artist in schools, and also a keynote and dinner speaker. Terry travels America with a message of rekindling the values of faith, education, family respect, and serving others. Terry sees himself as a role model for children and adults.

The acrylic landscapes/seascapes of churches, western valleys, winter scenes, and lighthouses are among Terry’s best sellers. Terry has said, “God’s presence and his blueprint for me became clear. I knew that my voice, sense of humor, and ability to paint would play roles in my life. I felt that God wanted me always to touch the lives of others.”

2002 Annual Passes are now on sale at the Fox Island Nature Center, 7324 Yohne Road. The passes are priced from $15-$35, and are valid from date of purchase through December 31, 2002. For more information contact the Allen County Parks Department at 449-3184 or email at angfoxisland@yahoo.com.

RANDOM ACTS OF KINDNESS
The official week for Random Acts of Kindness is February 10-16, 2002. The kick-off will be on February 10 at the Glenbrook Shopping Center.
But why wait for the “official” week to practice Random Acts of Kindness? This time of the year gives us all opportunities to be kind.
It really comes down to treating other people the way you would like to be treated. Random Acts of Kindness will come back to you and be shared by others around you.

PORTAGE CREEK CAMP ASSOCIATION’S
“1ST ANNUAL MOST AWESOME HUMONGUS WAYNEDALE-WIDE GARAGE SALE”
(The time of the sale will be announced as soon as the garage at the Scout Cabin (corner of Lower Huntington Road and Ardmore Avenue) is full – probably in the early spring.)
Have a garage sale last fall and don’t know what to do with all the ‘leftovers’? Are you still sorting through all the stuff Aunt Judy left you in her will, attic, basement, and closets? Did someone give you a gift at the last ‘white elephant’ party you attended and you want to get rid of it? Got a garage/basement/attic you want emptied of its contents? Want to get rid of old toys, tools, cooking utensils, furniture, etc. after Christmas to make room for the new stuff? Move and haven’t unpacked all the boxes and don’t know what’s in them and haven’t missed the stuff? Don’t open them; call Portage Creek Camp Association.

The members said they are willing to come to your house to pick up your donations. You may drop off your donations at the Scout Cabin but you must call first and arrange for someone to meet you there. Please don’t drop anything off in front of the door; it will only get wet or be stolen. Call and have someone meet you there PLEASE. Take a FREE tour of the Boy Scout Cabin while you’re there.
Don’t throw it out; call Jack Shepard, a member of Portage Creek Camp Association at 436-2422, for a ‘free’ pickup. For more information about Boy Scouting in the Waynedale area, contact Ray McCune at Portage Creek Camp Association, 2700 Lower Huntington Road or call him at 747-4535 or call Committee Chairman Walt Pressler at 436-9462.
